the worm

Brian,

still didn’t get a reply from you, by phone or by email. It's the same number as before. In case you don't recognize the email address, it's me. UNH can’t read my email but they can still monitor incoming and outgoing traffic, which is why the address might look "unofficial."

I think the package is here. Got a notification on my phone. Will have my daughter check the mail for me.

I am looking forward to laying eyes on it for the first time. The photos that you sent me took my breath away, really.

Regards,
Dr. Bard

Brian, I'm not sure what to tell you, but she opened the package before I got home and all I see is left packaging and an empty plastic bag with a small hole in it, maybe a few millimeters across. You specifically said "dormant", but do you think it somehow chewed its way out? Daughter says she didn't see anything inside, asked her several times.

A bit concerned.

Regards,
Dr. Baird

Hoping there's not some kind of emergency on your end. I'd text you if I had your number. Not at my computer anyway right now.

Basically, tore the package apart from top to bottom and there was no sign of worm anywhere. I'm late for grant proposal and it's hard to get people to pay for research on something that does not officially even exist. I can pay for another one expedited but it might be too late even then.

At clinic, will be away for a bit. Daughter had small fit. Thought she had outgrown them. They want an MRI, she wants me next to her (she's seven.)

Thankfully she's fine, no lesions, just some nasal polyps. Nurse says in rare cases can trigger seizures.

Brian, good to hear that you're okay. However I am unable to read most of your email as is written... on my monitor, many of the characters are in Arabic. Try resending it (maybe from GMail?)

I wanted to ask: can you clarify a bit that "rattling sound" you mentioned when we talked on the phone last week? You couldn't possibly confuse it for, say, an A/C unit?

Regards,
Dr. Baird

Brian, I hope you are well.

Believe it or not I haven't given up hope on finding the worm. Two days later and I still hear that rattle. It's completely new, and my daughter is hearing it too (she says it's coming from "everywhere" which is not exactly helpful.) She often sleeps next to me and it's waking her up -- her ears are sharper than mine. It would be a real relief to find it, for all of our sakes, I think.

Knowing only that the worm comes
